Challenge
In early 2023, Helvetic Airways set out to establish a fully integrated Evidence-Based Training (EBT) environment. The objective was ambitious but clear: manage and execute all EBT-related activities within one single system — from assignment to execution and analysis. The airline’s training management team wanted to eliminate the need for external documents or parallel tools, ensuring that neither training managers nor instructors had to rely on PDFs, spreadsheets, or other systems outside of the EBT software.
Solution
Since early 2023, Helvetic Airways has been using PRODEFIS TPMS as the core platform for managing and conducting its EBT program. All phases of Day 1 and Day 2 training are defined in detail within the software. EBT instructors access the respective training scenarios exclusively through their personal TPMS logins, via either a web interface or a mobile app, where they can select and activate the scenarios — or even individual segments — they wish to run.
Grading is performed following the VENN model, by using all four levels of the EASA grading level metrics (from Competent/Not Competent to Free Text entries). This fully digital and self-contained setup — described internally as a “total system approach” — was not achievable with any of the other software solutions that had been evaluated or tested.
